Today, I’m happy to share a piece that’s close to my heart, especially for all my fellow makeup artists out there. You know, transitioning from being a makeup artist to diving deep into the world of AI was like stepping into a new universe. And just like when you finally found your perfect red (which is Sephora Color: 01 Always Red—matte classic red—you can thank me later!), I found my new passion in blending technology with beauty.
Makeup artistry has a rich heritage and history, much like the classic issues of Vogue and Allure that I’ve read religiously over the years. When I first picked up an Oculus headset, back in 2020, I felt an immediate shift in my bones. I found my purpose. One minute I was on a fashion set, looking at mood boards, and the next, I was exploring endless creative possibilities with AI. It’s exhilarating, overwhelming, and new.
Let me take you back to when I first started out. Working on the fashion week shows of Betsey Johnson, Oscar de la Renta, and Marc Jacobs, I thought I had reached the pinnacle of my career. Every brushstroke was a story, every palette a canvas. But then, something incredible happened—I stumbled upon the wonderful world of AI. My curiosity got the better of me, and before I knew it, I was knee-deep in research, learning about AI’s potential to revolutionize the beauty industry.

AI has been a beautiful journey, helping me generate and conceptualize stunning beauty visuals that push the boundaries of our craft. Initially, I started experimenting with AI tools like Midjourney, creating my first set of AI-generated beauty ads. There was a learning curve but the results were beyond my wildest dreams. These tools allowed me to visualize concepts that would have taken days, if not weeks, to create manually. The efficiency was mind-blowing, and the creative potential seemed limitless.
While my journey has been filled with highlights, such as working on twenty years of fashion week, it’s my latest venture, The Future in Black™, that truly encapsulates my vision. My design studio merges artistry with AI to craft digital experiences that are nothing short of magical. We focus on bringing innovative solutions to beauty and fashion brands, making sure that technology enhances, rather than overshadows, the creative process.
In today’s fast-paced beauty industry, staying ahead means embracing new tools and technologies. AI has helped me streamline workflows like storyboarding, generating innovative concepts, and offering clients previews that exceed expectations. And it’s not just about meeting expectations—it’s about blowing them out of the water. You can totally present a client with an AI-generated look that leaves them in awe. That’s the power we have at our fingertips.
